An Empty Space

An empty space, long as a mile,
deep as an ocean, that echoes
with the sounds of wants that
are mistaken for needs, end-
lessly multiplied by a broken
culture that does not recognize
the ascetic beauty of temperance,
but instead accumulates bits
and pieces of the superficial
and time-limited, like a massive
landfill full of garbage that we
continually pile to the sky in
a futile effort to feel whole.
