This Moment is a Mystery

This moment is a mystery

shunned by the mind

which cannot control it.

The past is different.

It is stored and manipulated,

an intellectual playground.

The future is also there 

to be grappled with as anxiety,

a fantasy of could-be’s. 

But this moment is a mystery

over which the mind is powerless

and so it wants to be anywhere but now.
