Spring of the Quarantine

We have been buried, immobilized, 

lying dormant in our homes

waiting to sprout, to sprig, 

reaching upward to find the light, 

but also sending down roots 

to nourish us in whatever future-state 

we may find ourselves, more fully alive, 

a stronger organism in this web of life 

when we finally break the surface 

of our egocentric self-isolation

and feel the sun on our collective faces.
